Clean But Not Boring: Canadian Time FX That Add Depth and Drama
Guest post by Steve Baric
Sometimes a clean tone is just a blank slate. Other times, it’s a whole mood.
With the Time Dilation Delay from Get Wired Effects and the Reverberator from Dr. Scientist, you’re not just playing clean. You’re painting with air.
Both pedals were featured in the latest round of the Great Canadian Pedalboard 2025, and both prove that “clean” doesn’t have to mean “plain.”
Get Wired Time Dilation
This is one of the more fun delays I’ve played with recently. It’s got a soft analog flavour with deep modulation, but the trick is the dedicated Mod switch; you can punch it in during repeats for pitchy warble, swirly feedback, or full-on chaos.
Whether you're stacking it into a reverb, building ambient loops, or just spicing up a solo, it’s responsive, musical, and weird in all the right ways.
Dr. Scientist Reverberator
This is a true multi-tool of a reverb: Room, Plate, Hall, Mod, Rotary…and every one of them usable. You’ve got trails control, expression pedal input, and a solid output level that works great even in stereo or amp sim chains.
Want a tight room verb for rhythm crunch? Easy.
Need full-on shoegaze shimmer? No problem.
Running direct into IRs or a DAW? This will thicken your sound without clouding it.
Final Thoughts
Ambient FX aren’t just for chill players. They give high-gain rigs atmosphere, help your leads stand out, and make your cleans sound pro in a mix. These two Canadian-made pedals are powerful tools for any FX junkie.
