Builder Questionnaire: Lumberjack Components

Please introduce yourself.

Rob Saxby - Lumberjack Components

What do you make?

I make wiring harnesses for guitars and basses.

Why do you make what you do?

I noticed a gap in the Canadian market for affordable wiring kits and components, and have never been happy with factory wiring- I took matters into my own hands!

What was the first piece of guitar gear that excited or inspired you?

It would have to be the first electric guitar I ever bought myself- a Peavey JF1EX, bought at the age of 15. It was a 335-style guitar that played better than it should have for the price. I spent months changing parts and pickups in it and it kicked off my passion for modifying guitars.

What’s your current favourite piece of guitar gear?

I have a 2015 Telecaster that I have heavily modified- gold hardware, matte black pickguard, Seymour Duncan Jazz in the neck, and of course, some custom wiring. It’ll always be my #1 axe.

What have you been listening to lately?

My mainstays are Incubus, Jack Johnson, and all classic rock

Ideally, where do you see yourself/company/brand in 5 years?

I would like to expand Lumberjack into the pickup market and sell full bespoke tone packages. Pickups wound to spec with wiring configurations to complement them!
